Secretary/ Joint Secretary / Assistant Secretary (1942-2018)
 

The horticultural society of India has been cherished to have very competent secretary in conducting activities of the society. Secretary exercises the powers in accordance with the decisions and guidelines of the Executive Committee, general supervision over the affairs of the society and assist the President in the different activities of the society. The secretary of the society has been given the responsibility of calling meetings of the society as and when required as per rules of the society, prepare and keep records and circulate minutes of all the meetings, prepare and maintain a correct and up-to-date record of the Members/ Subscribers of the society, conduct general correspondence of the society and Initiate communication/ proposal preparation for seeking financial grants from different sponsoring agencies. Dr PK Sen was elected/ nominated as First and Founder Secretary of the Society. Dr G.S. Randhawa served as the Secretary for about 25 years. The Assistant Secretary were nominated by the President from among the life members of the Society to assist the President and Secretary in performing the functions of the Society. Later when constitution revised w.e.f 2004, the position of Assistant Secretary was upgraded to Joint Secretary. Dr V.B. Patel was nominated as first Joint Secretary to the Executive Council of the Society.
