Dr Kanwar Pal Singh

Dr Singh has more than 24 years of research experience on improvement of ornamental crops involving conventional breeding and biotechnological approaches. He contributed in the development of 13 varieties of different flowers. Besides, he developed some promising genetic stocks (hybrids/lines) in Gladiolus, Rose and Marigold. He also standardized protocols for in vitro multiplication of Carnation and Rose and drying techniques for higher retention of carotenoid pigments in marigold flowers. Dr Singh guided three M.Sc. and 11 Ph.D. students in Floriculture and has 275 publications to his credit including 56 research papers in national and international journals of repute. He is life member of several scientific societies and has been office bearer in Indian Society of Ornamental Horticulture and Delhi Agri- Horticultural Society. Dr. Kanwar Pal Singh is awardee of HSI Gold Medal in Floriculture and ISOH Fellowship conferred by the Indian Society of Ornamental Horticulture for his outstanding contribution in flower crops. He is also recipient of DAHS Merit Medal conferred by Delhi Agri-Horticultural Society for popularizing the technologies in the field of ornamental horticulture.
