Other Important Publications

The Society has also been publishing books on Special topics. The first book entitled “Famous Gardens of India” was published in 1971 and was edited by Drs G.S. Randhawa, K.L. Chadha and Daljit Singh was released in the honour of Dr M.S. Randhawa, a distinguished horticulturist and the past President of Horticultural Society of India (1957-61) on the occasion of his Sixtieth Birthday. Another publication entitled “Eminent Horticulturist of India” was published during 1983 and edited by Drs K.L. Chadha and R.N. Pal. The book contains detailed

bio-data of 108 distinguished horticulturists along with their photographs and addresses. Similarly another publication, devoted to farmers named as Innovative Interventions by Farmers in Horticulture was published in 2014 and released during the 6th Indian Horticulture Congress 2014. Another publication exclusively for Farmer Friendly Technology in Horitculture published in 2012.

Some special publications were also brought out in memory of or to honour Society’s Past Presidents by the ICAR on the sudden death of Mr. S.L. Katyal, ADG (Hort.), the ICAR brought out a special issues of Indian Horticulture titled “Three decades of Horticulture Research in India” Vol. No. 23 (2) July – Sept., 1978. Mr. Katyal who served the ICAR for three decades also served the HSI continuously from 1949 till his death in 1978 for a record number of 30 years in various capacities as SubEditor (1949-50), Secretary, Editor and Treasurer (1951-54), Member, Editorial Board/Executive Councillor (1955-64), Vice-President (1965-68) and President (1969-78)

. Another publication entitled “Ornamental Horticulture in India” edited by Drs K.L. Chadha and B. Choudhary was brought out by the Society to commemorate the eightieth birthday of Dr B.P. Pal, the Past President, of the HSI (1962-63) and former Director General, ICAR at the instance of ICAR.

On the occasion of the completion of silver, golden and platinum Jubilee years, the Society organized mega events and published the souvenir on the occasion.

Besides above special publications, the society has been publishing the proceedings of the seminars / symposia held by the Society from time to time along with Abstracts, Souvenir etc. The list of important publications of the Horticultural Society of India is given below:
