Headquarters

The Indian Academy of Horticultural Sciences ( formerly the Horticultural Society of India) had its headquarters at Lyallpur, Punjab (now in Pakistan) on its inception on January 1, 1942. The headquarters of the Society was shifted to Delhi from Lyallpur in March 1949 after the partition of the country and was housed therein. Later, with the establishment of the Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, Bangalore (now Bengaluru), Dr G.S. Randhawa, the then Secretary shifted the headquarters of the Society to Bengaluru in 1968. It continued at Bengaluru for quite some time and later again brought back to New Delhi in January, 1986 by Dr K.L. Chadha, the then Secretary of the Society and Deputy Director General (Hort.), ICAR. The Academy continued to run initially from Krishi Bhawan, Dr Rajendra Prasad Road, later shifted to Division of Fruits and Horticultural Technology, IARI, New Delhi where it continued till 2006. In 2007, the Academy was shifted to its present address in ICAR premises of National Societies Block, i.e. F-1, National Societies Block, National Agriculture Science Centre Complex, DPS Marg, Todapur, Pusa Campus, New Delhi belonging to the ICAR.
